She feels that Thailand’s talents are not appreciated enough as jobs are given to foreign DJs or musicians instead. “I hope I can do something to make a change in the future.” As she spoke of her achievements, she exuded quiet pride, “I will have the biggest gig of my life in Johannesburg, South Africa. I will play in front of 100,000 people in the stadium and my set will be live on all MTV channels around the world. I will present my first album at that event (Loveparade 2009). I think that will be a big step for me and for other Thai DJs. ![]() Famous Techno DJ/ producer/ musician: Montonn Jira Renowned DJ Montonn Jira is known for his eclectic, unique sound which though esoteric is well worth delving into for its richness. He has his own label, Samutprakarn Sound, which probably is the only label in the country that releases music on iTunes. “I'm working as the musical director for Heineken's "Music Beyond Borders" campaign which brings in international bands to perform at their festivals throughout the year,” said the artiste who wants to help mould the music scene in Thailand. “My goal is to bring in fresh new artists that are shaping and influencing the scene of today.” Thai DJs can be found at some big clubs and more so at smaller clubs in Bangkok. They keep up to date with new sounds and organise mind-blowing parties. Party scenes that are a must-visit in Bangkok are in the streets of Khao San, Silom, Sukhumvit and RCA Bangkok.
