Here is a chance for every person, living or visiting Singapore, to be a change maker. You can now raise funds for charity and create a Singapore island structure built out of LEGO bricks at the ION Orchard shopping mall. Organised by MediaCorp together with CapitaLand and LEGO Singapore, the ‘We Are One’ initiative aims to galvanise the public to build the 5m by 8m structure in the spirit of love, hope and compassion. The goal is to raise S$1 million for Community Chest and the President’s Challenge 2009. The completed island structure will be unveiled on November 19 and will be displayed at ION Orchard until November 27.

Cash donations

There are three ways for the public to get involved. Cash donations can be pledged through the website (www.weareone.sg) or at donation boxes at the Customer Service Counters of 10 CapitaLand malls, until November 18, 2009. They are: Bugis Junction; Bukit Panjang Plaza; Funan DigitaLife Mall; IMM; Junction 8; Lot One; Plaza Singapura; Raffles City Shopping Centre; Sembawang Shopping Centre; and Tampines Mall.

Buy a brick

You could also donate LEGO pieces by buying them at S$2 each, from the website or at Basement 4 of ION Orchard from now till November 18, 2009.

Create your own real estate

The third way is to create your own LEGO real estate, snap a picture of it, and then email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Your personal patch will be published on the We Are One website where others could pledge donations. Once the patch receives S$250 in pledges, it will become part of the Singapore island structure. So if you want your LEGO building on the island, get going now!
