Chugging-on for Charity!

CapitaLand adopts a Heart Train to signal its support for underprivileged children

CapitaLand has jumped onto the charity train to support an annual Singapore fundraising campaign The President's Challenge. Into its 10th year now, it aims to raise US$5.5m (S$8m) for charities this year. CapitaLand's philanthropic arm, the CapitaLand Hope Foundation, has donated US$20,600 (S$30,000) to 'adopt' a cabin on the Heart Train. This specially decorated train will ply the island's Mass Rapid Transit system for 12 weeks to raise awareness and encourage generous giving. The Foundation's donations will directly benefit underprivileged children from the Canossaville Children's Home, Lakeside Family Centre, and the Society for the Physically Disabled.

More than 150 guests joined President S R Nathan for a ride on the Heart Train when it was launched on 31 July 2009. CapitaLand staff volunteers and its mascot CapitaFrog hopped onboard as well to entertain the children from the charities that had been invited for the event.
