Green To The Core |
![]() The Loft embodies modern chic and eco-consciousness of this generation Rising regally above the hustle and bustle of life in Chengdu is CapitaLand’s first residential development in this Southwest China city, The Loft. Comprising 26 towers of premium, luxury high-rise condominiums, The Loft is the embodiment of modern chic. But what makes it particularly attractive to the savvy consumer of this generation goes beyond the fact that it is a fine specimen of stylish living. The Loft, which will welcome its first group of residents this month, is sought after also because it incorporates the sexy new message of eco-consciousness from floor plan to finish. Green Label PrestigeBuilt in accordance with Singapore’s Green Building Code, The Loft is on its way to garnering the Green Mark Award from the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore to add to its several accolades. In 2008, it won “The Most Awaited Property in 2008” in Chengdu Real Estate Appraisal as well as the “Iconic Property in Western Town” by Chengdu Business Times at the Spring Real Estate Property Convention. The following year, it won the “Enterprise AAA Credit Rating”, “Most Publicly Trusted Property”, “Highest Value City Living”, and “Annual 10 Most Innovative Product” at the Autumn Real Estate Convention.
The Loft’s design is sleek, stylish, and simple – just what the modern minimalist likes. But it is more than just a pretty face. Ecologically sensitive features have been built into its design to ensure that it is earth-friendly. Ultra thin tiles that are self-cleaning line the outer walls. Because the tiles are less permeable to dust and water, whatever dirt that is accumulated can be easily washed away by the rain - saving time, water and money. The Loft also broke new ground by being the first earthquake isolated high-rise condominium community. The towers are equipped with shock absorbers, a sophisticated technology that was first used in Japan. In a city like Chengdu where earthquakes can and do happen, this technology provides insurance to life and property that is invaluable. Green Effect of the LandSpanning 110,400 square metres of prime property at Guang Hua Avenue in the Qing Yang District, The Loft is surrounded by retail, dining and entertainment facilities, educational and medical institutions, and lush greenery. The greenery is echoed in the design of The Loft that features five levels of vertical greening (comprising of flowers, shrubs and arbors), a bamboo forest, a taichi area a 1,000-square metre man-made lake. What makes the gardens green in every way is the rainwater recovery system that The Loft has in place which is used to irrigate the surrounding land. The resulting water-savings come up to an astounding 58 per cent, which translates into real savings all around. ![]() The Loft, when completed in 2014, boasts a varied landscape with carefully laid out public and private zones that is pure poetry Integral to The Loft’s design is the concept of fluidity and space. It borrows from the traditional Chinese concept of “the yard”. In Chinese homes of old, the yard is a communal area where families gathered. The units at The Loft incorporate this idea to create space for family interactions. ![]() The indoor pool is heated via ground source heat pump that makes use of natural heat Well-ventilated rooms and attention to open spaces within help to reduce the need for excessive artificial lighting and air-conditioning. A ground source heat pump exists to heat and cool the club house. During summer, heat is conducted away via a pump into the condenser and released. In winter, heat absorbed through the ground is channeled into the condenser and used to heat the rooms and the water. This system saves about 30 per cent of energy. A ventilation system that regulates temperature and humidity also exists to reduce the need for air-conditioning. This French technology promotes the exit of stale air from indoors and the entry of fresh air from outside, literally clearing the air inside. This not only saves money and energy, it is also a healthier option because fresh air can be enjoyed without opening any windows. ![]() The rooms in The Loft enjoy natural, gentle breezes thanks to the fresh air supply The car parks come with an induction ventilation system and an auto carbon monoxide detector. When the sensors detect a higher than healthy level of carbon monoxide, the ventilation system will kick in to defuse the carbon monoxide. This improves air quality without the excessive use of energy. The homes in The Loft are equipped with a water filtration system imported from Canada that purifies the tap water to a precision of 0.01 micron while not compromising the presence of beneficial minerals and trace elements. So homeowners have the quality of bottled water in their tap water without the additional price tag. The Loft has all the amenities of the most exclusive establishments – the heated indoor pool and outdoor swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, sports facilities and fully-equipped gym, a jogging track, beautiful landscaping, a club house and retail shops. But what lifts it a notch above the rest is its commitment to the green cause that proves that lofty aspirations can become reality. The Loft
