![]() Breakfast at the private walkout balcony in Somerset on Salamanca, Hobart is a perfect start to any morning With no fancy machine, boyish-looking Richard is able to skillfully put a balloon within a balloon. This angel guest service officer is always on a special look out for families who stay at Somerset on Salamanca, Hobart “The balloons keep the kids occupied when the parents are busy unpacking. They also help to get the kids settled down in a new environment,” says Richard who has been with the serviced residence since it opened its doors in 2001. ![]() The angel in the house: Richard pumping a balloon (with another balloon within) to thrill his little guest. It all started when he picked up some balloons (branded with the Somerset logo) and blew them up for the kids that stayed there. He saw how his little act delighted the kids. But as the branded balloons ran out, Richard started buying his own balloons so that he could continue to entertain those tiny guests. Richard’s initiative is much to be applauded and typical of the service you can expect at Somerset on Salamanca. The staff goes beyond their call of duty to make your stay with them not only pleasant but a memorable one as well. Memories galoreGuests Mr & Mrs Chiartano went to Somerset on Salamanca for one of their annual getaways, courtesy of their daughter, and found Somerset on Salamanca one of the best places they have stayed in. Apart from the services and convenience they enjoyed, they were pleasantly surprised when they received a birthday gift (a pen), a card and an anniversary present (a box of chocolates) from Somerset during their stay. As it turned out, a room attendant had arranged with a guest relations officer to present them with the special gifts after she found out over a casual conversation that the elderly couple was celebrating Mr Chiartano's 80th Birthday and their 55th wedding anniversary. Such fine touches and attention to detail truly make Somerset on Salamanca such a delight for many who have stayed there. “Even if we don't know in advance about a guest’s special occasion, if Guest Service happens to hear something on check-in or housekeeping notices something when cleaning a guest room, we will make an effort to make the day special,” says Justin Geddes, Residence Manager of Somerset on Salamanca. And it’s not just any gift for their guests. “We always aim to use local Tasmanian products whenever recognizing special occasions, this could be something like a nice bottle of Ninth Island Pinot Noir wine (Tasmania is known for its Pinot Noir wine) or premium Tasmanian Chocolate truffles from D'Anvers Confectionary. One of the more unique presents is a Giant Tasmanian Freckle (chocolate covered in candy and shaped like the state of Tasmania). This is a great gift for corporate guests to either enjoy whilst they are away from home or to take with them for their children when they head home,” Geddes adds. ![]() Spacious luxury in every way for a better night’s sleep A better night’s sleepEver heard of a pillow menu?
